Maggie Rogers first gained popularity when Pharrell Williams taught a masterclass at her college, the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University. She left Pharrell speechless when she played her song, 'Alaska', in the class. Someone recorded Pharrell's reaction and posted it on YouTube. The video went viral and Maggie's music career took off.
