In a world where "conscious" rap is almost portrayed as being uncool, there are still artists like Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Big Sean, and Vic Mensa that have become popular for the messages in their music. Joyner Lucas, a rapper coming from Massachusetts, is another artist that you can now add to that list. Joyner first gained widespread and critical praise after releasing his single titled, 'Ross Capicchioni'. He is currently signed to Atlantic Records and released his fourth mixtape, '508-507-2209', through the label. Yesterday however, Lucas dropped the music video for his record titled 'I'm Not Racist' and it's definitely something that will be big. The record is self explanatory. But in short, he talks about the racial tensions that are and have been so prevalent in American culture.
