Nitty Scott Has No Time For Patriarchy In Her Unapologetic Single 'Pxssy Powah!'

August 1, 2017

The first time I ever heard the Afro-Boricua beauty was at The Chance Theatre, a local performance venue in Poughkeepsie, NY (a.k.a. Queen City). Nitty came on stage and dominated the space with her beauty and lyrical genius. She rocked a simple and classy, grey one-piece jumpsuit with heels, yet her lyrics superseded her appearance. I remember looking into the audience and seeing their faces in awe from her level of talent. Without a doubt, she showed up and showed out!

In her latest hit titled 'Pxssy Powah!', Nitty showcases a woman who will not take "no" for an answer. She also makes it clear that it's time to break down the chains of psychological slavery. The single is from her most recent album, 'Creature!'. The album is an oath to all Afro-Latinas, giving an open space to embrace the afro-indigenous roots which is complex, beautiful, and almost erased out of existence due to isms and schisms.

'Creature!' is available now on all major online platforms. Listen to 'Pxssy Powah!' here:
